2009 to kick off with a strong imm cologne

On 19 January 2009, the Cologne Design Festival opens its doors. Once again imm cologne will feature the very best exhibitors. In 2009, some 1,200 companies from around 60 countries are expected, including market leaders and countless SMEs.

At the same time, booked floor space has risen significantly over the same period the year before. With a foreign exhibitor share of 60 per cent, imm cologne is the most important marketplace for living and design the world over. The exhibitors in Cologne will meet the demands of buyers from more than 125 countries.

The event, which covers 286,000 square metres, showcases the widest range of current furniture designs across a spectrum matched by no other exhibition. The themed areas make it easy for visitors to place orders and conduct business efficiently.

A clear measure of its success is shown by the more than 200 companies on more than 70,000 square metres who will exhibit their furnishings at imm cologne. This makes the 2009 edition the largest upholstery show in the world.

imm cologne 2009 will also lead the globe in the DIY segment. In halls 7 and 8, around 100 companies will be showing an international and well-designed selection.

The newly curated dedicated exhibition area in hall 11 guarantees visitors a concentrated and holistic view of international top designs. January will see some 200 exhibitors on 48,000 square metres showcase the most important design development from Scandinavia, Japan, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Italy and Germany, among others – including such emotional brands as Cassina, Minotti, COR, interlübke, Ligne Roset and Walter Knoll.

imm cologne will also be the number one furniture and design capital of Europe from 19 to 25 January 2009 – and not just because of the timing. The city will be presenting a wide-ranging “off program” with more than 100 showrooms offering both innovative lifestyle worlds and plenty of options for chilling out in the evenings.
