Louise Campbell’s “Das Haus” 2014 gets a new home

During imm cologne 2014, it was already quite clear that the “Das Haus” format would be recycled. The installation is to find a new home on a youth camp located on a farm. This means that the 2014 edition of “Das Haus” is the first which will not be destroyed once imm cologne has closed its gates. Now the installation has arrived at its new destination.

It is still early morning when the truck reaches the little village of Welzin in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and the driver looks around for people to help unload the beams which once made up “Das Haus” installation in the Pure Village hall at imm cologne. The children are quickly woken up, neighbours called and two hours later, the beams of wood are safely unloaded. Now everyone waits impatiently for everything to finally get going!

The Berlin organisation Actiontouren – leben.lernen. e.V (Actiontouren – live.learn. e.V has leased an old manor house and partially restored it. It is to be developed into a self-catering destination for youth tours and other interested associations, schools and organisations. The refurbishment is one of the conceptual parts of the organisation’s activities. “Das Haus” will be rebuilt, together with the children and teenagers, on the foundations and remnants of the old, dilapidated barn of the farmhouse. It will become a place for temporary communal living. Once the roof has been rebuilt and the doors and windows installed, “Das Haus Welzin” will serve a new purpose for the people of the region – as an open house for art and culture, a living and lively atelier with areas for exhibiting and working.
