“In its thousands of honeycombs, space saves condensed time.” This quotation from Gaston Bachelard inspired Poonam Choudhry to reflect on the design of our future living spaces from the perspective of her Indian background and her interdisciplinary working methods. And it is the title of a lecture with the topic “In between cultures – conceiving and designing future living spaces”.

Our desires, dreams and ways of life are formed by the way we view and create design which in turn influences our lives, where and how we live as well as our work. Every room tells a story and with careful and conscientious design, every room can radiate an atmosphere which inspires, soothes or stimulates people. It is thereby worth observing certain developments in different countries, how local and international design flow into each other as well as noting the directions in which those respective designs are heading.

Pure108_Vortrag_Poonam_FotoBorn in New Delhi, Poonam Choudhry graduated in Design from the ABK Stuttgart (Stuttgart Academy of Art and Design) and lives and works in Stuttgart and New Delhi. Her design office, poonamdesigners | visual solutions, run in partnership with Martin Bargiel, is conceived as a design laboratory and sees design as a creative instrument for wielding positive influence on ways of thinking as well as on society and its needs. In their interdisciplinary design office, Choudhry and Bargiel advise on and develop design concepts for projects, design processes, products, interiors and communication for companies such as WMF, BASF and Ritzenhoff, among others. Poonam Choudhry is a member of the DDC (Deutscher Designer Club), teaches at several universities and writes essays on the context of space, architecture and design in context for publications like form and AIT magazine, among others.

The lecture takes place on Thursday, 22-1-2015, at 2:00 pm, at The Stage, Pure Village, hall 2.2, booth H006.

All lectures will be translated simultaneously into English.
