In his lecture Heinrich Remagen talks about artificial lighting and its effects on health and well-being. Lighting is another area that is undergoing rapid technological change. LED technology, having been a part of general lighting for what is only 10 years now, has in this short time become the most cost-effective lighting technology, and is steadily replacing fluorescent lamps in the energy saving segment. The incandescent light bulb is due to be abolished completely soon. But what influence do developments in artificial lighting have on us, on our daily rhythm and pace of life, on our health and well-being? The lecture explains these relationships in layperson’s terms and helps everyone to understand light in the context of their own living environment and, as far as is possible, how to design it for optimal effect or at least best protect oneself against any adverse effects. The aim of this talk is to help people to live longer and in better health – you can hold Heinrich Remagen to his word on that!
