Also returning to “The Stage” in 2017 is The Book Lounge, organised in collaboration with Westermann Kommunikation. This year, interior designer Sylvia Leydecker gets the programme underway with an overview of her work. With the theme “Alles Paletti” (It’s all made of pallets!), Claudia Guther presents furniture made of pallets, for indoor and outdoor use, whilst Serdar Kutucu discusses design hotels and Sabine Wöll presents the Red Dot Year Book 2016/2017.

Sylvia Leydecker is one of Germany’s leading interior designers and a noted author. With her specialist knowledge, she combines expertise in materials, branding, healthcare and corporate environments, and runs the studio 100% interior, which focuses on corporate interiors. For the Koelnmesse event ORGATEC 2014, she successfully designed the first special “CompetenceCenter Space” event.

In student digs, kids’ rooms or loft conversions – the improvised and rugged character of pallet furniture or wine-crate shelves fits in anywhere. Whether a unique designer piece, a mobile children’s table or a repositionable bed, used pallets and old wine crates can be used in extremely flexible and versatile ways. With the signs of wear on the wood, each piece is a one-off and, as a simple alternative to self-built furnishings, these furniture items are also extremely cheap to make. In this book, you will find easy-to-follow instructions to make furniture and decorations from pallets and wine crates, for use indoors and outdoors.

Claudia Guther lives with her family near Ludwigsburg in the south-west of Germany. Since 2003, her books on the subjects of room decoration, activities for children and acrylic painting have been published by frechverlag. Through her company www.kivents.de and by writing books, she has turned her passion for colours, materials and the latest trends into a way of life. She may have given up her original profession as a building technician, but engineering and handicrafts still inspire her – after all, these were the origins of the book “Alles Paletti” (It’s all made of pallets!), which was quickly followed by the second book “Alles Paletti Outdoor”.
