At the imm cologne 2018, the young talent competition Pure Talents Contest will take place for the 15th time. Young design talents from all over the world can apply for an exhibition at the Cologne fair with their prototypes. The registration for the young designers’ competition is free of charge. Lucie Koldova is guest of honor of Das Haus 2018. The young Czech designer from Prague is known for her extraordinary flair in designing lighting fixtures and lighting effects. For the seventh year running, the international interiors show imm cologne has invited an international designer to use architecture, interior design and furniture in a simulated house in order to make a personal statement about contemporary living.
Application period for the young designer competition of the international garden fair spoga+gafa gets underway. With immediate effect, students and designers, who have completed their studies within the past three years, can apply with their ideas on the competition theme ‘Outdoor Living’.
What do we need to live? The design by Todd Bracher, with which the US designer surprised the visitors of the imm cologne 2017 can be reduced down to this simple question. Especially since they still could recall last year’s “Das Haus” with its very different design that confused the senses – full of colours, scents, textile haptics, round in shape, transparent and open on all sides. Whereas Sebastian Herkner demonstrated sensual indulgence recently, Todd Bracher is limiting himself down to the essentials.
On the first day of the international interiors show, the moment arrived once again: at imm cologne, the three winners of the 14th Pure Talents Contest were presented. From the 21 shortlisted entries, the jury awarded Bernhard Osann with his Neo lamp, Simon Diener with his Pong lamp and Christoph Hauf with his frameless mirror, Slanted Mirror.
After months of low temperatures, the dull monotony of winter, cloudy skies and long nights, we dream of bright light, heat and the arrival of spring. And we long for colours. The colour spectrum for body, mind and soul is based on a scientific research project that Professor Axel Venn will be presenting in his lecture. The results of this study help, in particular, to give vital insights into the quality of life and quality of living in one’s own home.
Also returning to “The Stage” in 2017 is The Book Lounge, organised in collaboration with Westermann Kommunikation. This year, interior designer Sylvia Leydecker gets the programme underway with an overview of her work. With the theme “Alles Paletti” (It’s all made of pallets!), Claudia Guther presents furniture made of pallets, for indoor and outdoor use, whilst Serdar Kutucu discusses design hotels and Sabine Wöll presents the Red Dot Year Book 2016/2017.
Original designs, intelligent solutions and sustainable products from young designers will be the focus of the Pure Talents Contest since almost 14 years. In the course of the last 13 years, a total of 395 products from 494 designers from all over the world have been presented to the trade audience at imm cologne as part of the contest exhibitions – presented, above all, to the industry’s decision makers, for whom the contestants would love to design. Many of these products have found their way into the collections of well-known manufacturers following the fair.
