With The Stage, the imm cologne is doing more than just providing a central rendezvous for professionals and creative partners in the industry; the forum also has an exciting programme lined up for the public days of the fair. At the weekend, interior designers and design professionals will give end consumers useful tips on interior decor. Some of the weekend’s topics are: interior colour trends (Axel Venn, Julia Hausmann), furniture hacking (Sigurd Larsen), interior decoration with light (Thorsten Moortz), eco-friendly room furnishing (Wibke Schaeffer and Moritz Zielke) and new bathroom materials (Martina BrĂĽĂźel).

The Stage on Friday: About soul-colours, new DIY-perspectives and building with natural materials

For many visitors, the prestigious programme of talks offered by The Stage is the starting point for their visit to the international interiors show imm cologne. Designers, creative talent and interiors professionals inform the audience about current developments in interior design. The lecture forum offers with 55 lectures on 7 days a very strong programme. Today the speakers will talk about natural materials in sustainable construction (Susanne Brandherm and Sabine Krumrey), DIY from a new perspective (Sigurd Larsen), living happily with Hygge (Barbara Delius) and colour for body, mind and soul (Axel Venn)

The Stage on Thursday:
Insights in the fringe areas of interior design

The trends forum at the largest interiors show of the year cannot fail to shine a light on the fringe areas of interior design. Robert Müller-Grünow (Scentcommunication) will be explaining the important role fragrances can play in interior design. Virtual worlds are also playing an increasingly important role in the furnishings sector. Picking up on this field in the lecture programme, Mara Michel (.futurize dietrendagentur) will be offering an insight into “analogue virtuality”, while Michael Gairing (Blanx) will address the issue of augmented reality. And Barbara Busse (Future+You) will give an insight in the ideas about design and marketing of the Generation Z.

The day of colours and materials

The colour trends for the new interiors season are of particular interest, and will again be presented by Karl Johann Bertilsson (NCS Colour Academy) in 2018. As the flipside to trends in interior colour design, Dr. Hildegard Kalthegener will also have the appropriate anti-trends to hand. But materials will also get their fair share of attention in the lecture forum of The Stage. Hannes Bäuerle (raumPROBE) will highlight the importance of the combination of materials and sound; Dr. Sascha Peters (Haute Innovation) will be giving a presentation about materials for a decarbonised society. The imm cologne’s information and networking platform for architects, planners and designers offers a professional overview of interior design trends. On Tuesday, amongst others, the following issues will be dealt with: Furniture buying in Germany (Nicole Schostak and Sebastian Klein), action and reaction in Scandinavian design today (Monica Förster), innovative ideas for living in old age (Michael Schlenke) and contemporary colour trends (Karl Johan Bertilsson).

The imm cologne trends forum “The Stage” will again be the home for discussions and responses to current issues in the world of interior design this coming January. Here, experts talk about trends in home living, designers shed light on their concepts and industry insiders discuss future developments. In 2018, the established lecture forum in Hall 3.1 of Koelnmesse will once more be offering an overview of current trends in interior design. On Monday, the first day of Cologne’s fair, will have a particularly international flavour. In addition to the designer of “Das Haus”, Lucie Koldova (Czech Republic), Cristian Zuzunaga (Spain), Jason Danziger (USA), Poonam Choudhry (India) as well as Stefan Scholten (The Netherlands) will be on “The Stage”.

The Stage: colour psychology and practice – Axel Venn presents colour for body, mind and soul

After months of low temperatures, the dull monotony of winter, cloudy skies and long nights, we dream of bright light, heat and the arrival of spring. And we long for colours. The colour spectrum for body, mind and soul is based on a scientific research project that Professor Axel Venn will be presenting in his lecture. The results of this study help, in particular, to give vital insights into the quality of life and quality of living in one’s own home.

The Stage: Pallets furniture, design hotels and furniture industry overview at Book Lounge 2017

Also returning to “The Stage” in 2017 is The Book Lounge, organised in collaboration with Westermann Kommunikation. This year, interior designer Sylvia Leydecker gets the programme underway with an overview of her work. With the theme “Alles Paletti” (It’s all made of pallets!), Claudia Guther presents furniture made of pallets, for indoor and outdoor use, whilst Serdar Kutucu discusses design hotels and Sabine Wöll presents the Red Dot Year Book 2016/2017.

Original designs, intelligent solutions and sustainable products from young designers will be the focus of the Pure Talents Contest since almost 14 years. In the course of the last 13 years, a total of 395 products from 494 designers from all over the world have been presented to the trade audience at imm cologne as part of the contest exhibitions – presented, above all, to the industry’s decision makers, for whom the contestants would love to design. Many of these products have found their way into the collections of well-known manufacturers following the fair.

The Stage: Poonam Choudhry about smart and sustainable design in an intercultural context
