The designer Magnus Mewes creates furniture from barrique barrels. The shapely stools, chairs and tables have a history: for the famous barrique barrels, which are intended for the maturation of great wines, the oldest oaks, often 200 years old, are cut down. Four times they are filled with red wine, then they are used for the oak furniture.
Polish design comes back to imm cologne. The exhibition The Spirit of Poland is a new edition of the initiative conceived by industrial designers to promote Polish design and entrepreneurship on the international scene. The project prepared for imm cologne Pure Talents focuses on companies and designers who take an unusual approach to materials, draw upon local resources, develop new technologies and look for innovative solutions.
The Exhibition âPolished Up. Design from Polandâ is a continuation of the âUnpolishedâ project, presented successfully in the years 2009-2013 in 20 venues in Europe and Asia, e.g. in the Design Museums in Cologne and Helsinki, the Museum of Modern Art in Bucharest or the Museum of Decorative Arts in Budapest and in numerous design festivals. The Unpolished exhibition focused on design fundamentals of a generation raised in the times of political and economical transformation. In the exhibition sector D3 Schools colleges are presenting course content from the fields of architecture, interior architecture and product design, as well as outstanding student projects. With self-designed fair stands and exhibition space the colleges show sometimes extremely unusual installations that have nothing in common with conventional information stands. Hereafter we present some of the college that will be part of the D3 Schools at the imm cologne 2014. For the first time the exhibition will at the new platform Pure One.

At the imm cologne’s newcomer platform [DÂł] Design Talents, experimental design comes face to face with international trade professionals. The two formats that have been established here to promote young designers, the [DÂł] Contest competition and the [DÂł] Professionals forum, present visitors to the international furnishing fair with a selection of the best next-generation designers.
