Every year, the imm cologne presents a different, very personal vision of contemporary living, created by hot young designers and design teams from around the world. Over an area of around 180 m², “Das Haus – Interiors on Stage” is constructed and fully furnished in accordance with the plans of the respective nominated designer. In January 2019, Studio Truly Truly will turn “Das Haus” into an experiment in living itself.

Grill & Chill: snack a „bratwurst“ at imm cologne

Together with RPR1., a popular German radio station, and Europe’s biggest BBQ specialist shop Santos Grills, we invite you to the first BBQ of the season on January 18 at the RPR1. “Grill & Chill” tent. The grill chefs from Santos Grills will perform hourly event BBQs at three separate BBQ stations, presented in good spirits by RPR1. morning show host Giovanni Zarrella and presenter Laura Nowak.

Visitors will learn about the various types of grills, BBQ techniques and general BBQ know-how as well as ingredients and skillful preparation. In addition, they can benefit from useful advice by the Santos Grill chefs on how to stage a successful BBQ event and of course of delicious food for free. To round it off, RPR1. DJs will put on “Chill & Grill” music at the chill-out area of the Grill & Chill piazza. Another highlight: You will have the opportunity to win a brand-new Santos Eden 511 Grill.

A stage for visionary living concepts

It was a design event of the quieter, more subtle kind. There was no proclamation of a new design philosophy to the accompaniment of spectacular gestures. Nor was a new collection presented in a typical trade fair scenography designed to show the product off to full advantage in a perfectly styled setting, as is the custom in the Pure segments of the international furniture and interior design show imm cologne. Instead Das Haus – Interiors on Stage was a half realistic, half visionary depiction of a dream of what living space could be like – in this particular case, of Luca Nichetto’s dream. The imm cologne’s new design format, which was introduced just last year, is not so much about individual products as about the interplay between all the various factors that constitute interior design. The individual pieces of furniture are important soloists within this ensemble but not, in this case, the superstars.

interzum 2011: More exhibitors and more visitors document a great success

“Sensational. It was our best interzum ever,” was the general consensus amongst exhibitors at the end of this year’s interzum. With 52,400 trade visitors from 147 countries, the leading international trade fair for the furniture supplier industry was able to announce growth of 13 percent as compared to the previous event in 2009. The internationality of the visitor structure, traditionally always high anyway, increased significantly this year with a plus of 24 percent.

“I’m absolutely thrilled. What’s been happening here over the last few days is incredible. For four days, the exhibitors have been showing what I can only describe as a firework display. The industry has been celebrating itself – with good reason,” concludes Frank Haubold, product manager of interzum and director of the imm cologne. “With this interzum, Koelnmesse has definitely underlined its position as a beacon for the furniture industry. I don’t believe there is any other trade fair venue in the world where three absolute leading events for the respective sectors take place so successfully, in such concentrated form and in such a brief space of time. We are creating precedents for an extremely promising future,” says a visibly satisfied Gerald Böse, CEO of Koelnmesse.

This year’s interzum was the international meeting point for the supplier industry. The mood was extremely good, exhibitors were able to make new contacts and boost business. And visitors had the opportunity to get a comprehensive overview of what the sector has to offer. There were sophisticated newly developed products on show in all segments.
