The special exhibition “Pure Talents Contest” at imm cologne (Hall 3.1) will show smart product concepts, offbeat ideas and solid craftsmanship in a tremendous diversity encompassing everything within the world of interior design, from ultra-simple furniture and textile works to home accessories and lamps through to conceptual design. Today we present the lamp 60° of Svenja Katharina Jakobs and Jonas Wansing and the two seating furniture Cellastic and Temi of Hiroyuki Morita.
The work of designer duo Fredrik Färg and Emma Marga Blanche is characterised by their proximity to fashion and to playful textile details. The Swedish-French duo has now designed the Ram Easy Chair for Design House Stockholm. The striking seams of the armchair and the lapels on the armrests are reminiscent of tailor-made shirts.
In the living room the sofa is the eye-catcher and the place where we spend the most time. But often the design of this room is more individual than the products offered by upholstered furniture manufacturers. Niches, projecting walls or ledges, pitched roofs, ovens or doors can thwart plans to buy the sofa of your dreams. It’s a centimetre too wide here, or the backrests don’t fit there, or maybe the whole sofa is a bit too deep. That’s why we compromise on our couch purchases and buy an off-the-peg model – even though the trend for personalisation is making inroads into interior design in a growing number of areas.
Filigree lightness combined with skilfully handcrafted upholstery details and the freedom to sit, lie or relax in perfect comfort, at any time. This is Tira by Rolf Benz. Designed by Joachim Nees Tira can also be configured as a modular sofa made up of individual elements.
Graz architect Josef Hohensinn designed the Heidering correctional facility with generous views of the outdoors and lots of light and colour. He selected brightly coloured, functional furniture by Brunner to match the architecture, using it to furnish all areas of the facility, from the solitary confinement cells to the oratory.
Ed, the new bar stool from German design label Moree, is a perfect accompaniment to bar tables, counters or bars. The smart stainless steel wooden mix of this “high chair” gives good service during your morning coffee, business small talk or Blue Hour. It is always there, when comfortable short-term seating is needs in a small area.
Designed in timeless elegant style, Ed fits into private living or dining room and kitchen as well as in gastronomy and interior finishing areas. The seat, which swivels 360 degrees, is made from two gently curved shaped wooden boards which facilitate the two-tone colour of the stool: Ed is available in the colour combinations white-white and white-grey. For interior designers it can also be produced in their desired colour (RAL colour pallet). The generously dimensioned footrests give comfortable support; the seat heights is adjustable via compression spring. Ed can be combined with the Moree Lounge 105 or Studio light standing tables, which bathe the surroundings into white or coloured light.
At the imm cologne 2015, Thonet has expanded the “Pure Materials” collection with the addition of the famous bentwood classics. Striking, grained leather, natural wood and a careful handling of the materials characterise this fine and especially sustainable collection. A natural patina develops on the products of this series over the course of time – traces of use are absolutely welcome.
