imm cologne 2013: high number of registrations and a strong demand for space from abroad

The imm cologne, the major worldwide event for the interior design sector, will open its gates in fewer than 200 days. Following the two successful events in 2011 and 2012, the 2013 trade fair is also right on track. With roughly 10 percent more exhibitors and 12 percent more exhibition space occupied, augmented by an increase in foreign participation and new product segments, there’s nothing standing in the way of a successful event.

“2013 is a very important year for us. With a strong German economy to bolster us while foreign markets are faltering, the imm cologne will assume a very special function as the central global business platform. The significant interest from strong Italian brands is a good example of this. For the first time in years we’ll be occupying the entire exhibition centre again, enabling our visitors to experience everything the international interior design sector has to offer in one location. In view of the huge interest from professional circles and the media, plus the fact that the number of exhibitors who have registered to take part exceeds all our expectations, we can already say that, more than ever before, Cologne is very much a talking point in the international interior design sector,” says Frank Haubold, Vice President Trade Fair Management.

Design fireworks for the New Year: imm cologne and the city are going to make some noise

300 designer brands, a fifth of them from Italy, meet their business partners at the imm cologne fair. These range from interior designers to architects as well as a critical trade audience from all over the world. Here in Cologne cameras are as important as order books, as tomorrow’s trends are discussed and today’s winning trends are decided. Italy, the design nation with its leading lifestyle brands, is once again present in full force at the imm cologne. More than 60 Italian exhibitors, including top brands such as B&B Italia, Cassina, Poltrona Frau and Capellini, Cierre, Desalto, Driade, Kartell, Living Divani, MDF Italia, Poliform and Porro will present their ranges and innovations at the fair in January.

imm cologne 2012 with high number of registrations: strong demand for space from Italy

Following the end of the early booking period, Koelnmesse is looking ahead to imm cologne 2012 with optimism. Already, more than 200 days before the event, the rental situation is 18 percent above the figures for the same period for the last imm cologne. Overall, over 70 percent of the hall space has been hired out.

“This result marks a seamless transition from the outstanding imm cologne 2011”, remarks Gerald Böse, CEO of Koelnmesse, with regard to the registration figures. “Developments in relation to international participation are particularly pleasing. As well as huge demand from Germany, we have seen increased desire for space from Italy, France and Spain”, continues the CEO.

Frank Haubold, director of imm cologne, had the following to say: “The current developments confirm imm cologne as an important international business event. Anyone wanting to earn money through furniture turns to Germany and thus to imm cologne as the biggest event in this market.” LivingInteriors, the new trade fair format for halls 4 and 5, is also awaited with great excitement. Here, everything will revolve around the topics of bathrooms, floors, walls and light.

interzum 2011: More exhibitors and more visitors document a great success

“Sensational. It was our best interzum ever,” was the general consensus amongst exhibitors at the end of this year’s interzum. With 52,400 trade visitors from 147 countries, the leading international trade fair for the furniture supplier industry was able to announce growth of 13 percent as compared to the previous event in 2009. The internationality of the visitor structure, traditionally always high anyway, increased significantly this year with a plus of 24 percent.

“I’m absolutely thrilled. What’s been happening here over the last few days is incredible. For four days, the exhibitors have been showing what I can only describe as a firework display. The industry has been celebrating itself – with good reason,” concludes Frank Haubold, product manager of interzum and director of the imm cologne. “With this interzum, Koelnmesse has definitely underlined its position as a beacon for the furniture industry. I don’t believe there is any other trade fair venue in the world where three absolute leading events for the respective sectors take place so successfully, in such concentrated form and in such a brief space of time. We are creating precedents for an extremely promising future,” says a visibly satisfied Gerald Böse, CEO of Koelnmesse.

This year’s interzum was the international meeting point for the supplier industry. The mood was extremely good, exhibitors were able to make new contacts and boost business. And visitors had the opportunity to get a comprehensive overview of what the sector has to offer. There were sophisticated newly developed products on show in all segments.

interzum 2011 (25.-28.5.2011): innovations for architects, craftsmen, designers and product developers

Just a few weeks to go now until interzum 2011 opens its doors at Cologne Exhibition Centre from 25th to 28th May. Around 1,400 exhibitors will be presenting their latest innovations to visitors from all over the world. But interzum has far more to offer than the pure product exhibitions – a whole series of special presentations, piazzas and thematic focal points spread throughout the fair are guaranteed to make the trade show even more attractive and encourage a lively exchange of ideas.

Light and materials at the innovation of interior forum
For the second time, Hall 4.2 will be hosting the innovation of interior forum, the new attraction for architects, designers and product developers with a special focus on light and materials. In addition there is an information area, a lounge, speech and meeting zone and compact, pre-specified presentation spaces for prestigious companies that form a perfect unit both visually and thematically. The declared aim of innovation of interior is to encourage eye-level communication at state-of-the-art level with partners who share the same aims and values.

Interior Innovation Award 2011 – award-winning products are being exhibited at imm cologne

As part of the opening ceremony for imm cologne, the Best of Best in this year’s Interior Innovation Award were announced on 17 January 2011. In addition, the three best international up-and-coming designers were presented with the Interior Innovation Award. All award-winning products are being exhibited in special shows at imm cologne.

The large Boulevard of Innovations award exhibition along the northern boulevard presents the products that the jury awarded the “Winner 2011” label as well as those from this preliminary selection proclaimed the 15 Best of Best 2011. The award-winning work of the three best newcomers together with around 30 prototypes from international up-and-coming designers can be seen in the [D3] Contest exhibition in Hall 3.2.

News about [D³] Design Talents

In 2011 D³ Design talents will be staged for the sixth time at imm cologne. This event for young designers, which consists of the three areas D³ Professionals, D³ Contest and D³ Schools, will generate momentum for the interior design of tomorrow. The inspiring and visionary designs that are presented here will be flanked and supported by other events and installations.

One innovation that will be introduced next January will be a form of presentation that aims to connect young designers even more closely with the trade fair activities. The designs of the winners of the D3 Contest will be presented in the pure village area rather than at the previous venue in the lower area of Hall 3. The stands of the D³ Professionals will also be placed nearby, in a “neighbourhood” of their own located one level higher in Hall 3.2. The intimate atmosphere and well-planned trade fair architecture of the pure village exhibition format, which was introduced in 2010, offers an ideal framework for the firework of ideas and unconventional designs generated by the next generation of interior designers.

Interior Trends 2011: imm cologne presents the most important trends in furniture and interior design

At the beginning of June, the designers Patricia Urquiola (Milan) and Defne Koz (Chicago/Milan/Ankara) met up with the designer Harald Gründl (EOOS, Vienna), the textile designer Martin Leuthold (Jakob Schlaepfer, St. Gallen) and the editor Marco Velardi (apartamento, Milan/Barcelona) for a two-day imm cologne Trend Board workshop in Cologne. Here they filtered out four of the most important trends in furniture and interior design – trends that represent the different levels of style and lifestyle. Once again this year, these four interior trends are summed up in a trend book called Interior Trends 2011, complete with informative names, exemplary products and lavishly photographed settings.

The four interior trends will take on shape for the public at imm cologne in January 2011 in the form of installations. These will be presented by the members of the Trend Board in four exhibition cubes that will be part of the still relatively new trade fair format Pure Village.
